Free flexible working resources launched to support schools


New resources have been launched today (15 November) to support flexible working practices. The free flexible working case studies have been developed by a partnership of organisations across education, including the Chartered College of Teaching, the professional body for teachers.

With the ongoing recruitment and retention challenges across teaching, the case studies from schools across the country highlight the benefits of a wide range of flexible working practices. The short, easy to use guides will support discussions amongst senior leaders and their staff on how to ensure positive impacts from flexible working for the individual, organisation and pupils. This follows the Chartered College of Teaching’s drive to encourage collegiality and collaboration across the profession.

Vivienne Porritt, Strategic Leader of #WomenEd and Vice President (internal) of the Chartered College of Teaching, said:

“We are delighted to launch the first set of case studies which focus on the benefits of a wide range of flexible working practices and to spark conversations within and across schools. We will keep adding more case studies and thank you to our partners for being willing to work collaboratively to support schools.”

#WomenEd is collating the case studies with partners including Return to Teach, Flexible Teacher Talent, The Centre for Education & Youth, ASCL, NAHT, Whole Education and the Chartered College of Teaching.  The case studies are hosted on an open-access webpage complete with useful research, reports and resources.
