CHARETRED COLLEGE COMMENTS ON NEW ETHICAL LEADERSHIP FREAMEWORK

The Ethical Leadership Commission – of which the Chartered College is a member – has today (Friday 25 January) published its framework for supporting ethical discussions in schools.

As part of the framework, the Chartered College will establish an Ethics Forum reporting into its Leadership Development Group. The Forum will offer space where dilemmas, developments and problems in school leadership are discussed. It will seek to generate profession-led guidance and provide regular ethical discussion points for training and publications.

Professor Dame Alison Peacock, Chief Executive of the Chartered College of Teaching, said: 

“For many, our schools are where we begin engaging with society’s big questions. This has a huge impact on shaping who we are as people. We want to ensure that teachers have the skills to support these conversations and create a strong ethical climate in their school.

We are pleased to have played a part in developing these recommendations. The Chartered College is in a strong position to bring the profession together to foster positive debate around the issues we all face. This is about giving our teachers and leaders the tools and knowledge to build an ethical foundation to support their colleagues and all of their pupils.”
