Chartered College of Teaching and Iris Connect Launch New CPD Partnership To Support Coaching and Professional Development

A new partnership between the Chartered College of Teaching and IRIS Connect will support teachers to transform their teaching and learning through evidence-informed theory, examples of practice and coaching frameworks.

Teachers will be able to access a range of bespoke tools via the IRIS Connect CPD platform. Coaching and reflective pathways are matched to teachers’ domain expertise and the platform also provides evidence-informed mechanisms for coaches to help teachers improve their practice.

Teachers can use the platform to sharpen their knowledge of key strategies by reading bite-size evidence summaries on topics such as instruction and scaffolding, and bridge the gap between research and practice by viewing and deconstructing real classroom videos of those strategies in action.

Individuals who have completed the theory groups and Pathways on IRIS Connect will be well equipped to use insights from their learning to inform assessments on the Developing Teaching Portfolio and Mentoring Development Portfolio, for the Development of Teaching Practice Award unit, and the Classroom Practice Inquiry Project, for the Education Research and Inquiry Certificate unit, both of which make up part of the Chartered Status pathway for teachers and mentors.

IRIS Connect’s founder, Andy Newell said:

We are delighted that the Chartered College of Teaching has recognised the quality of our materials. We have really valued working with CCT on other programmes and are really looking forward to developing this partnership even further.

Helen Barker, Teacher Assessment Manager at the Chartered College of Teaching said:

It’s very clear how IRIS Connect can support teachers to improve their practice by implementing high-leverage strategies and knowledge of research, in a way which fits their context and their students’ needs. This type of teacher learning, linking theory and practice with expert input and reflection, complements our Development of Teaching Practice Award units for both teachers and mentors, as well as our Education Research and Inquiry Certificate.

Having used IRIS Connect myself when working towards Chartered Teacher status, I know just how powerful this can be, and I’m thrilled that we have developed our CPD Partnership. I’m looking forward to seeing submissions from teachers who have used Connect’s platform to develop their practice.

Utilise the IRIS Connect platform in your journey towards Chartered Status. Our Development of Teaching Practice Award unit includes free access to IRIS Connect software. Find out more here.
