Professor Dame Alison Peacock, Chief Executive of the Chartered College of Teaching has today (2nd July) commented on the Department for Education publishing new Autumn term guidance for schools to bring all pupils back.
“Our teachers have shown great professionalism and collegiality throughout this crisis. They have consistently worked to ensure their pupils, whether in school or remotely, receive an excellent education.
This clarity is welcome and provides the opportunity for our teachers to prepare for Autumn. To do so, it is even more important that they have the break of the Summer holidays to pause, reflect and plan.
In light of recent local lockdowns in Leicester, it is imperative that the Government is constantly engaging with the profession to provide updates and trusts our profession that the decisions they make align with sound pedagogical principles and are the best they can provide under the circumstances for their pupils, staff and local community.”
