Dame Alison Peacock, CEO of the Chartered College of Teaching, has made the following comment on A-level results day.
“The past eighteen months have been incredibly challenging for schools across the country, but today we have an opportunity to celebrate the phenomenal work of students. At the same time, our teachers should also be applauded for the tireless and ongoing support they have provided throughout the pandemic.
“Covid-19 has significantly impacted the education sector bringing additional complications to teaching and learning. This has demanded incredible flexibility from teachers and school leaders. Despite this, we want to reassure parents and students that the teaching profession has done everything possible to provide fair and accurate results, and hope that the Government continues to support our teachers and the grading outcomes.
“As we continue to emerge from the pandemic, it is important we do everything in our power to set young people up for success. As part of these efforts, we hope to work closely alongside government so that teachers can help shape the next steps of the recovery and ensure those in education are supported as much as possible.”
