The Chartered College of Teaching Council has today (3rd April 2025) announced the election of Liz Gregory FCCT and Sufian Sadiq FCCT as Co-Presidents-Elect of the Chartered College of Teaching.
Liz and Sufian bring a wealth of experience and passion to the role, with a shared commitment to championing the teaching profession and ensuring that teachers feel supported, recognised and valued.
Liz Gregory FCCT, Head of The Maynard School, previously held senior deputy roles with a particular focus on professional development, coaching, and evidence-informed practice. A Founding Fellow of the Chartered College, Liz has been actively involved in its work since its inception and is a staunch advocate for evidence-informed practice.
Sufian Sadiq FCCT, Director of Teaching School, plays a key role in shaping professional development for educators for Chiltern Learning Trust. His leadership in professional development, inclusion and equity has made a significant impact on the sector, and he has been a dedicated member of the Chartered College community for many years.
In this voluntary role as part of the College’s governance, both Liz and Sufian will work alongside the current President, Aimée Tinkler FCCT CTeach (Leadership), the Vice Presidents and the Council to represent and elevate the voices of educators. Their leadership will be key in strengthening the College’s role as the professional body for teachers, ensuring it continues to celebrate and support teachers at every stage of their careers.
Following their election, Sufian Sadiq said:
“I am absolutely thrilled and recognise that at such a challenging time for the profession, this role carries great responsibility and we want to ensure that we restore the pride in this amazing profession.”
Liz Gregory added:
“I am delighted to be appointed co-President-Elect! It is a real honour to serve the Chartered College of Teaching and I am excited to see how the College will grow and develop as the professional body for teachers. It is so important that all teachers feel that their voice can help shape education and that they have the support of a professional body, I am thrilled that I can help lead the College in providing this.”
Liz and Sufian will formally take on the role of Co-Presidents at the AGM in November 2026, bringing their expertise and dedication to furthering the mission of the Chartered College – empowering a knowledgeable and respected teaching profession through membership and accreditation.
