Research Box focuses on equipping teachers to transform their questions about practice into action through action research within their own classrooms. Action research allows teachers to problem-solve issues through engaging with research and evidence and exploring an aspect of their practice in a systematic and structured way.
The Action Research Award’s focus on research engagement and practitioner action research aligns closely with the Chartered Teacher Professional Principles assessed within the Professional Enquiry (research project) assessment, which is the assessment for the Education Research and Inquiry Certificate on the Chartered Teacher and Chartered Teacher (mentor) pathways.
The Action Research Award is designed to empower practitioners to investigate, reflect on, and improve their own practice through structured, evidence-based inquiry. The award offers a practical introduction to action research, guiding participants through each stage of the research process while equipping them with the skills to create meaningful, lasting impact in their professional settings. Colleagues who’ve completed the Action Research Award will be offered 20 credits towards Chartered Status, and exemption from the Education Research and Inquiry Certificate unit on the Chartered Teacher or Chartered Teacher (Mentor) Status pathways.
