Please find below our statement following the attack at a Manchester synagogue on Yom Kippur.

The Chartered College of Teaching offers our heartfelt sympathy to the families and friends of those killed and injured in yesterday’s attack on a Synagogue in Manchester, on Yom Kippur. We are horrified by the violence, and the impact that this will have on Jewish people across the country. We condemn antisemitism, racism and extremism, and we send solidarity to all who are affected.

Education has a key role to play in tackling the hatred and misinformation that fuels violence. We stand with our Jewish members, and with all educators who work tirelessly to make schools and colleges places of safety and stability for pupils and staff.
