Over the last year, we have been working very hard to expand our events portfolio, curating content that is tailored towards our members’ needs and interests; you may have noticed that our events calendar has become a lot fuller. As part of this, we are excited to announce we have moved towards a thematic approach to event planning, which is now live!

What have we done?

From now on, each of our events will be linked to a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) theme. When you log into MyCollege, you’ll see refreshed event images with badges highlighting the CPD theme that each event is linked to. This will allow you to directly align your CPD with one of our themed ‘strands’, giving you the opportunity to focus on a particular area.

We’ve kept the themes broad so we can keep content varied and current. The themes we have available are: 

• AI in Education
• Assessment
• Behaviour and Attendance
• Curriculum
• Inclusion
• Leadership and Teacher Development
• Pedagogy
• Professionalism
• Research Skills
• Student Mental Health and Wellbeing
• Student Teachers

Why have we done this?

This move to a thematic approach is designed to allow you to make your professional learning more impactful and coherent; rather than attending an event or reading an article from Impact in isolation, we want to offer you the opportunity to create a stream of CPD that supports the use of evidence-informed practice and responds to the current education climate. 

Let’s look at an example: say you want to broaden your current professional knowledge and learning around assessment. You can now see at a glance those events grouped under this theme by looking out for the assessment badge. This aims to make building your CPD journey simpler and more linear. 

Plan in advance

As well as this, we are now going to be planning our events portfolio further in advance, allowing you the time to carefully curate your chosen CPD from our available events, articles and resources. We value our members’ engagement with our resources, and hope that you find this new approach straightforward to navigate. Over time, we hope to build these themes into fully-loaded CPD strands for you to follow, or implement into your school’s training portfolio.
