We are pleased to share with members that Dr Grace Healy has been appointed as the next Director of Education at the Chartered College of Teaching.
Dr Healy is currently Education Director (Secondary) at the David Ross Education Trust and brings extensive experience in curriculum, teacher development, research and educational leadership. Her career spans senior leadership and governance roles in both primary and secondary schools, as well as within multi-academy trusts. She has led Trust-wide curriculum and teacher development, Teaching School Hub provision and Initial Teacher Education, working closely with teachers at all stages of their careers.
Alongside her leadership experience, Dr Healy has a strong academic profile. She is an Honorary Associate Professor at the UCL Institute of Education and an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, and holds a doctorate in curriculum studies and geography education from UCL. Her research focuses on teachers’ intellectual work, reflecting a long-standing commitment to strengthening professional learning and teacher agency.
Dr Healy also contributes widely to the profession through a number of national roles, including as a Trustee of Oasis Community Learning, Chair of BERA’s British Curriculum Forum Steering Group, Associate Editor of The Curriculum Journal and Associate Fellow of the UCL Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Education. Grounded in her work as a geography teacher, she has contributed extensively to national and international work in geography education and professional learning.
Dr Healy will join the Chartered College of Teaching on Monday 20th April 2026, working closely with Dame Alison Peacock, CEO, and the Executive Leadership Team: Deputy CEO Jen Baxter, Finance Director Jenny Tunbridge, and Director of Service Operations Miriam Davey.
She takes on the role following Dr Cat Scutt’s appointment as Chief Executive Officer of The PTI. Cat has worked at the Chartered College since it opened to members in 2017 and was awarded an MBE for services to education in 2021, recognising her contribution to national education policy. She will move into her new role in spring 2026, and we thank her for the significant impact she has had in shaping and strengthening the College for members and the wider profession.
