Effective professional development in the primary setting
November 16, 2017 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Please join us for the first meeting of the West Sussex’s Chartered College of Teaching regional hub where we will be discussing effective professional development in the primary setting and outlining plans for this year. Our lead speakers are Dr Rebecca Allen and Sam Sims.
Rebecca is Director of Education Datalab and an academic at UCL Institute of Education. Sam also works at Datalab and is completing a PhD. Both are experts in quantitative research methods and have written extensively on teacher careers. They are founding members of the new research app ‘Teacher Tapp’ that aims to improve teacher engagement in research and evidence on instructional practices. Their forthcoming book, The Teacher Gap, describes how we can make teaching a career worth having.
Their talk will be about Schools where teachers get better at teaching. After their presentation, we will be discussing what works in our settings and outlining our plans for the year as a hub.
