Direct debit – Monthly and Annual Payment Plan and Automatic Renewal

Under the direct debit Monthly Payment Plan, you agree to pay the full annual subscription fee in twelve (12) equal monthly instalments during the annual subscription period. If you choose to pay your membership fee under the direct debit Annual Payment Plan, you agree to pay your membership fee in full annually on the date that you joined as a Member of the Chartered College of Teaching. These payments will be taken automatically and require no further action from you. If you choose to pay your membership fees monthly or annually using our direct debit services, your membership will continue automatically at the fee rate applicable to your membership type, and your membership may be terminated by giving one (1) calendar month notice in writing as set out in the Termination section below.

For the Monthly Payment plan, each payment will be debited on the same day of each month, either on the1st of the month or on the 15th of the month. For example, if you join the Chartered College of Teaching from the 15th to the 31st day of the month, you shall be charged on the 1st day of the following month. If you join the Chartered College of Teaching from the 1st to the 14th day of the month, you shall be charged on the 15th day of that same month. If this date falls on a weekend or a bank holiday, payment will be debited by your bank on the next working day. Please check with your bank for details. Each instalment for the remaining months shall be paid in advance by Direct Debit from a nominated bank account.

In order to provide Monthly and Annual Payment Plan services, the Chartered College of Teaching may appoint a payment processing agent to receive and collect your monthly or annual direct debit instalments and in respect of payments made by direct/credit card. You will need to fill in the Direct Debit instruction correctly as per the payment processing agent’s requirements. There will be no extra cost to you for these processing services supplied by such agent. This agent uses and protects your information under the Direct Debit Guarantee. They may contact you in relation to your monthly and annual payment plan.

Unless the subscription is cancelled with your bank, payment processing agent or by written notification to the Chartered College of Teaching in accordance with the membership handbook, your membership subscription will automatically continue, at the appropriate membership fee. In the event that your membership annual fee changes, we will contact you to let you know the new amount that you will be charged.

If you want to change the bank account to be debited, amend or delete your details you should contact us to do so.

If, during the annual subscription period, the Chartered College of Teaching does not receive any monthly or annual direct debit payment or you seek to terminate your membership, the Chartered College of Teaching may terminate your membership in accordance with the Regulations and Membership Handbook of the Chartered College of Teaching.

The Chartered College of Teaching will be entitled to recover any and all of the following:

(i) any annual subscription fees payable under the Membership Handbook for the remainder of the Membership period; and
(ii) its losses and expenses, which may include its reasonable administration expenses caused by the loss of payment and the fees and expenses (including those of debt collectors) that the Chartered College of Teaching may reasonably and properly incur to recover the outstanding subscription fees referred to at the Payment section above.
