Today (15th December), the Department for Education has announced that it will be rolling out rapid-testing in schools and colleges from January.

Dame Alison Peacock, Chief Executive of the Chartered College of Teaching, commented on the news:

“Our hope is that these tests will help ease some of the most fraught experiences teachers have had to manage these past months and provide greater reassurance.

What we need to see now is how the government will offer practical support with this testing so as not to further add to the huge workload pressures our schools and colleges are already experiencing.”
