Chartered College comments on recruitment and retention strategy

CHARTERED COLLEGE COMMENTS ON RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION STRATEGY

The Department for Education has today (Monday, 28 January) launched its recruitment and retention strategy for teaching.

The strategy pledges to support teachers, including plans for new teachers – through its Early Career Framework – to reduce timetables.

Professor Dame Alison Peacock, Chief Executive of the Chartered College of Teaching, said:

“All teachers, no matter what phase or setting, deserve the support and opportunities to deliver the best possible education. The Chartered College has worked closely to support the development of this framework which is detailed and rooted in evidence but flexible enough to work for all.

We welcome the extended induction period and increased access to CPD for early career teachers – both of which the Chartered College called for – to help those starting their teaching journey. These are important steps to highlight that teaching is a world class profession and we look forward to ensuring all teachers have the chance to benefit.”
